I didn't mean to take a month off....

I didn't mean to take a month off from blogging but it looks like I did.
I sure didn't stop taking pictures. Here is a picture wrap up of days before school started and the first day of school and a few other things we have been doing.

When I was in my teens and twenties I dreamed of being the best wife and mother. I have two friends who were dreaming right along with me.
Right before school started we drove from our 3 different parts of the Salt Lake valley to a little lake.
We let our kids play for hours in the sand and water .
The kids we had dreamt about years ago are now very real.

Our boys

We have 13 kids between us.
I have 5 with a set of twins at the end.
Natalie has 3.
Alicia has 5 with a set of twins in the middle.

Our kids asked us if they were cousins, we said
almost.

Spent a beautiful day with my mother whom I adore.

And finally
The first day of school!
had to get a picture before my big junior high girl left.

Luke is so mad. He was riding his bike off to school with his best friend when I called him back for more pictures.
Oh the furry and tears.

The first day of school went off without a hitch except for one thing.
I couldn't find Sarah's brand new Hello Kitty school shoes.
I proceeded to have a melt down.
"I spend money and time on my kids clothes and shoes and they lose them! I was careful and prepared and still they find a way to throw a wrench in things!"
Nate tried to get me to remain calm, bless his heart.
I searched and texted my friends asking if they had seen the shoes.
No.
20 minutes before school started I drove to my mother in law's to see if they were there.
No.
I drove to Target and bought another pair.
After school that day the original shoes were found in a friends yard.
Sarah has 2 pairs of these cute shoes.

For whatever reason I could not let my ideal go. I had to have my darling twins dressed the same on the first day of Kindergarten.
Maybe I could have saved myself the trouble and changed my expectations.......
but this day I could not do it.

All my kids love their teachers. Do you know how great that is?
It's very great.

Sarah keeps us laughing.
She keeps us crying too. Man is that girl strong willed!

When I walk Sarah and Gwenyth to school I get to see AnnaKate out playing at recess.
This day is was "Helicopter helicopter over my head!"
Remember that game?
AnnaKate always comes and gives me a hug as I walk through the play ground, even if she was mad at me when she left the house that morning. There is always a reason for my kids to be mad at me. I do horrible things like make them brush their teeth before school.

Sarah and Gwenyth and I have fallen into a nice routine.
We play most mornings, mixed with fights.

We go to dance class and get frozen custard.

We got to take the children through the Newest Temple in Brigham city.
It was very very beautiful inside.
By the end of the tour I could see and feel the effect the spirit of the Lord had on them. They were laughing and talking and were 5 best friends. We went to KFC for dinner and Nate and I watched with smiles on our faces as our kids made each other laugh and enjoyed each other's company.
It's amazing what the spirit of Christ can do.

I don't like to decorate much.
I'm not one of those moms scouring magazines for ideas and going to thrift stores to find furniture to refinish. I have friend who love it though so I have been asking them to help me with Emmaline and AnnaKate's room.
It's coming together and is looking cute. I'll post more pictures later.

Sarah drew this and then told me when she grows up she wants to be an artist. I told her she is already and artist. She looked surprised and pleased.
She said
"Then let's call me masterpiece artist Sarah"

Yesterday after church and after the delicious dinner I made. Yes, I made an awesome dinner that my kids loved. Miracle.
We went four wheeling in Nate's Toyota Four Runner.
I wanted to see the fall leaves and get out of the house and the kids wanted some thrills.
Nate drove up and down dirt hills like a careful maniac and we all laughed and screamed.
Then we got out and hiked around and let the dog run.
It was a perfect day yesterday.

More from me later.
Hopefully not a month later but I've got a lot to do so we'll see.

  1. My kindergartener would LOVE to have Hello Kitty shoes. She is in love with Hello Kitty. But they have uniforms here and she thinks she has to wear "gym" shoes to school, so she'll only wear her tennis shoes. I also love that your kids get to play on the playground. Only kindergarten plays on the playground regularly here. After first grade, they never get to play on the playground- they have gym class, which I think is stupid. Hmmm... I may have ranted there. Sorry!
