Nursing Homes and Neon Trees

Hi, I'm back. I've been thinking about you...all my imaginary friends who supposedly read this blog....
I think its a day for posting pictures. I'm just sort of lazy and don't want to go downstairs and search for my camera and phone so maybe I'll think of a good story to tell you and that will help motivate me to find the camera.
Once upon a time there was a little girl named Sarah and she wanted the sound of the furnace to help her fall asleep. So her obliging mother turned on the heat. When it shut off  Sarah said "That was hot air. I want cold air" So her mildly bugged, slightly amused mother turned on the AC, but the AC kept blowing hot air and Sarah started crying and thrashing in her bed and waking up her twin sister Gwenyth. So her loving, selfless mother went down to the basement to fetch the fan and plugged it in Sarah's direction.  Her loving mother said in her 'I mean business voice'   " Stop being high maintenance and go to sleep. I mean it." And so Sarah went to sleep.
The End

I can't find my camera. It has all my nice Thanksgiving day pictures....maybe it's lost forever and we'll be forced to buy a nice one.
I can only hope.

I'll post the ones on my phone from singing at the nursing home.
This is Elaine. She might look old but she isn't.
We talked and talked.
I sang Oh Holy Night for the group. There was about 7 residents who came to listen.
I think Elaine was the only one that was awake and listening.
Then Elaine and I sang a bunch of Hymns together without my guitar (since I only know how to play the songs I've written)
She harmonized while I sang the melody.
We sounded good.
I sang a couple of mine with my guitar.
Elaine liked them but she really liked it better to sing with me.
I can empathize with the need to sing so I better be learning some old songs from the 40's or something so she can sing along.

This is Sterling.
He clearly has awesome hair.
He was not at all impressed with my singing.
He read his paper and peered over his glasses with a skeptical look on his face.
I did not earn any smiles from him.
 Maybe next time.
My homework for the week is to learn some old songs that would be familiar to them so they can sing with me or just enjoy it more I hope.
The sweetest was when I was talking to a woman named Harriet.
I asked her if she was from Centerville.
She said apologetically "I'm embarrassed at what I don't know"
I told her that's exactly how I feel too Harriet!
She smiled and said "Thank you" like it was nice to be understood.
She was so sweet, my voice put her right to sleep.
Next time I go I'm gonna be ready with songs Elaine will know.
The others didn't seem to care what I was singing but Elaine wanted to sing along.
Also I'll be sure to wear short sleeves. They keep is sweltering in there.
When I got home from the nursing home where everything was really warm and sleepy and I'd been singing Hymns, I really felt the need to wake up and feel alive so I listened to Brandon Flowers and Neon Trees on Pandora to balance out the inside of my head.
How would it be to be that girl drummer in Neon Trees?
So cool right?!

Alright. I better go to bed. I guess. Nate's out of town so there is no one to tuck me in.....I always stay up too late when he is gone. :(
Goodnight maybe
See you later.
